How could the System32 file possibly contain 80GB of files when the hard drive is only 40GB??

This happened to someone I know:

Clean install of XP Home

All Latest Drivers and BIOS

Playing Warcraft for several hours suddenly causes screen to flip out and system cannot reboot into ANY Mode.

BootDisk to DOS prompt and find this huge directory.

Thinking maybe Warcraft is doing something strange but need to reformat and monitor more closely.

Anybody ever have this happen?

a Normal System32 folder should only be a little under 600 meg

Sounds like Kazaa or Morpheus filling your System32 directory with worms for sharing out. :(

Try CHKDSK C: /F /R

Bill is right
run a fix disk
cuz some of your DATA is corrupted
and they are Cross Linked

that's how they look like 80 gig on a 40 gig HDD :t

Thanks Bill,

He may have had those programs on his drive before, but they're gone now.

I'll relay the info.
