hi all,
I'm having an impossible time connecting to my att@home email account. I keep getting a msg. that it is "timing out"... I think that there are several possible reasons for this, but I believe the main reason is that it is that i'm not changing the right things in eudora. I use another email account for all other correspondence, but @home will only send me a bill to my @home account. I need to know the best way for me to access this account.
thanks,
-Z

Is this what you need just to view your mail till you sort it out? ATT netmail address>

Go into Control Panel and open Modems. Look under Properties for an option that disconnects within a specified period of time and make sure it is unchecked. Also go into your Dial-Up-Connections folder and right click your connection and click properties. Make sure the disconnect option is unchecked in there, too.

mykex, thanks, but that's not what I want...
captpete, I don't want to change those settings, the timeout setting is fine. Another reason that it could be having trouble is that this is supposed to be a protected account (or something like that) and maybe I don't have the right settings for encryption set in eudora...
just more fuel for the fire
thanks

Hi zskills,
I have an @home cable modem and I use the built-in mailreader that comes with Netscape. It's not fancy but it gets the job done.
Did you set the incoming and outgoing mail servers to "mail" and the incoming server type to POP3? Maybe your mail server is temporarily down. You can ask the on-line tech using @home's chat page.
Hope this helps....

DanU, no, I did not set the mail servers to "mail"... I set them to "home.com". I just assumed that it would be set up the same as my university account. I'll have to try that, although I'm not sure that it'll actually work (i use eudora) and I won't be able to get to it until later this week.
