Removing cdrom device completely

How do I completely remove my cdrom device including all connections to adaptec, nero etc. , can't get cdrom working properly on new mobo installation.

to remove the cdrom go to start/settings/control panel/system in system hit tab under device manager adn click the + next to cdrom then highlight the cdrom and hit remove...as for the nero and adaptec go to add/remove programs in the control panel
