I have seen some systems with this case/processor setup. I have no clue what motherboard any of the systems contained. So now that I know it is possible for this setup to be successful, my question is what are the constraints on this system.

For example, how many fans can you have with this? Are there only certain motherboards that let you do this? Can you run this and 4 IDE drives? I know AMD recommends 300W for Athlon systems, but is the recommendation only for Athlons and T-birds, or does it include Durons as well?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

BTW I am running 2 case fans, 3 hard drives, 1 CDRW and a huge HS/fan como (FOP38) on my Duron. My 250 watt PSU is also on the AMd list. I also have a fan on my video card and on the KT133A chip. I need to sit down and figure out how much power need for all this stuff one day because I know I am pushing my luck.

I have a 250watt PS running my Duron 700, with 2hd's, floppy, cd-rom, cd-rw, three fans (one is plugged into mobo) which is a Gigabyte GA7ZX. It runs perfectly.

I have an Abit KT7A and I am very happy with it. It is running stable with a Duron 700@888 137X6.5

Now that it's okayed, would anyone recommend a case? I'm not very picky, just 250W Midtower.

I'm prospecting over the Enlight 7237.

I can`t recommend a specific case but the AMD "approved" cases are cases with an extra fan vent in the back that when a fan is installed, directs air straight at the processor.

The Enlight 7237 is a good case. A 250 watt ps should run everything fine - for a while. The problem you may enuonter is that the ps may burn out sooner than normal. I would suggest to get a very good ps if you go 250 watts. Just out of curiosity, why not just get a 300 watt ps?

A generic Mid Tower ATX case w/ 300W PS goes $55, while a generic Mid Tower ATX case w/ 250W PS goes $40.

A $15 difference.

Only $15 for the piece of mind - I think it's worth it. That $15 now beats haveing to spend another $30 later IF the 250W ps burns up.
