Hi

Has anybody since cdrom issues with Windows XP? I have seen 2 new computers with current new cdroms where the cdrom doesn't show up if you do a reboot. You actually have to fully shut down and then start the computer from a cold boot for the cdrom to show.

Also just today have one XP upgraded machine where we can't get the cdrom to show up at all. Checked the Microsoft Knowledgebases but nothing in there?

I have similiar problems, but with a 2nd HD.

XP was installed with 1 HD originally, then i added my 2nd HD - currently storing of MP3's, AVI's, VCD etc.. on FAT32

Anyway, for me to use the 2nd HD, everytime I start Win, i have to actually "Add New Hardware" for the drive to actually appear within the Windows system. Then I can actually use/access the info on it.
Everyother version of Win, would just add the drive automatically !

But thats not all... everytime i shutdown the system it looses it.
Thus, everytime i turn on the PC, i have to actually add new hardware for the HD. Why wont it keep changes to the system ?

I have had other instances where it wont allow chnages...
trying to change a Hardware driver, for one which isnt M$ produced.
On this.. i can only change a driver, if the driver file im trying to install is newer in date, than the one installed by XP default.

Outside of this.. the only CD ROM issues i know of are those concerning installing XP on a boot disc (fdisk) formated HD.
