win9xSE/win2k pro... dual booting

I've just finshed installing win 2kpro and it wont go pass the starting windows screen cept in safe mode.. any ideas ?..

1. Have you completed Setup yet?

2. What happens? Does it just never start, freeze or restart automatically?

3. Is Win98 OK?

Yes it finshed... it dosent freezr or anything it just dosent go past the starting windows screen... and yes win98 se is good

Well if Win2k is able to go into SafeMode
then it means it has some sort of Hardware trouble in Normal mode

boot to safe mode
look into DEVICE MANAGER
and find anything with Yellow Exclamation

also check what VIDEO CARD is installed

By this do you mean the status bar never mooves...although it doesnt freeze??

Just to clarify :)

...only time ive ever had this is powerign up lots of devices on a "cold" PSU (ie no residual electricity) :confused:

In this scenario though id say AG's on the right lines...safe mode also bypasses start up programs, but as you havent had chance to install anything to the OS, thaty dont look likely
