I want a software that could download a lot of pages from internet at specified intervals, so it would open up automatic when I start IE.

I only want the pages being cached on my computer, say 10 times a day at specified intervals.

I have xDSL (ADSL) 1024/256, but it is a lot of time my computer could spend downloading these pages when I'm asleep, and then the pages would open instantly the next day, as an example. :-)

yes it works, i can't remember the names though

i used to have those software before, cuz back in IE4 the feature for Subscription didn't work well.

but they fixed in IE5.5 and 6.0

so you might not even need that

have you tried the one that comes build in with IE ?

So have you tried the IE Build in Subscribe mode yet?

if you want 3rd party software check out these sites for downloads

cws.internet.com
Download.com
tucows.com

Thanks! Tried it just now. Looks like what I'm after. They don't call it subscribe mode anymore, just offline viewing.

So i guess the need of a 3rd party software is not required after all :)

Well, I might not be so happy after all. Seems like it stops after some time, without downloading all of the page (and links to other pages because I choosed 1 links deep). Could be something wrong with the page or linked page. Have to try some more favorites first.

oh on that definitely will not work
even with 3rd party software you need AT LEAST 5 level deep, for it to work properly

Yes, I was thinking of having more levels, but for the moment, just 1 level for testing.

But why do I need at least 5 levels? Isn't that a lot of information? I have at least 20-30 pages, some with many links and some with none, that I would update every night.

And, the first page, what number is it (0 or 1)?

And, there isn't so many items to configurate in IE. Can't find where to tell IE not to download some of the items on the page. There are just options to choose activex/images/html (i believe) and so on.

first page is 1

as for the configure
you are right

that's why 3rd party tools are better for the task

for example you can tell it not to download files over 5 meg

It takes very long time to finish on some pages! Have to look for another alternative. Tried some software some time ago, but it was not good enough.

If someone use such software and they would recommend it, please do so.

Maybe I have to learn programming myself like I meant to do?! Hate installing software just to uninstall it the next day.

just wondering

you have Cable, why do you need that anyways?

i used to use that stuff only before i had cable

now i don't even keep cache

i use 0 cache for my IE and Mozilla

everything is life from the web

I like things to go fast. Most of the time the pages download fast. But if I'm downloding something from work or the internett, big things, I would like to look at my favorite sites, and then it will load faster if it's cached on my computer.

Was that difficult to understand? There are a few reasons to why I would like pages cached on my computer, but that together with my slow computer at work is the main reason. If I can find a way to speed things up, I could use it on my computer at work too.

i understand completely

but software like those ain't good for Site like this, SysOpt

cuz stuff changes soooo fast

it's only good for sites like cnn.com, magazine, or manufacture websites.

so anything that is not dynamic or not updated every few minute

CNN update its about 4 to 6 times a day.

but at least the time is far apart enough

here in SysOpt, messages are updated by the seconds

LOL :r
