Well, I liked A3D better than EAX. I'm still using an A3D card.

I wasn't fond of the stinkin' EAX reverb. I was not impressed. I dunno if Creative has improved it.

by the way Creative released new Drivers/software for the Audigy and Live SB cards

13 meg in size

they are definitely good, a lot of bugs finally fixed

Ya, I have them.... they made things bad.... Distorted sound, and game music, I used that utility to fix the driver, or whatever.... I like the old driver better, I had the ability to spit out sound in Dolby Prologic, when hooked up to my SRS amp, know I only get Dolby Prologic when usin DVD software........

EAX got evolved over the years, and even though A3D was there first, its development ceased when Aureal went out of business. Actually, it was purchased by Creative just like 3Dfx was purchased by nVIDIA. The only company which seems to use "old" A3D technology seems to be Sensaura, and they actually make it sound quite nice.
But IMHO EAX 1.0/2.0 is still better, not speaking about EAX 3.0 aka EAX HD (Audigy).

actually, the distortions, eventually went away... But I do miss the old driver cause it had the option for the Dolby Prologic audio out processing (Live! out, or somethin like that)

EAX! Got a SBLive mp3+ and it sounds great. plus has mp3+ hardware decoder! So I can hear mp3's surf the net and do 10 other things with no sound skip what so ever.:p

Ive only used EAX and its quite good... only thing is taht sometimes the transition between different environments isnt reflected properly, ie clunking of a metal floor still there even though youve moved into a carpeted room... but overall quite good...especially considering how cheap Sblaster Live! cards are nowadays

:)

The bad thing about EAX is that you "need" to use Creative products for good performance in 3D-Games.
Is dere any other Option?!
I dont like Creative very much...
Itīs just not "professional" audio hardware :(

If you use A3D mode in Half Life, you can hear sounds from 2x as far away as people using EAX or software.

I used to not really like my audigy's effects in games. The reverb thingy in eax 2 mode really sucks. Then I got the UT2003 demo. It uses all the eax hd stuff, and the sound rocks. :)

Here's a question that just came to mind... What is "reverb"?

here' an Easy assotiation to Reverb

Echo, Bounce, Feedback :t

Feedback is distrotion. thats how Hendrix invented the distortion pedal for guitars. He found by standiong close to a amp at near full pwoer it would feed back causeing resonence in the sound. I.E. distortion. Still nothing sounds like a nice fuzzy warm tube amp stack at 3/4 volume and playing a rif 10" away from it at near full feedback. Gives me goose bumps when I hear my guitar like that!

No, reverb is like shouting in a cave,. But every echo is the same level of sound. Or just slightly quieter each time it echoes. Also a guitar effect. Actually I use my MP3+ for my guitar mixer:D Allot of it is guitar like effects they use in games. Also you can tweak each sound setting individually.:t

P4 gamer - how do you use your computer for guitar effects? I'd like to try it sometime. What equipment and software do you need?

I have an audigy card. :t

I use the line-in jack on Sb live. Then I use a guitar preamp to output it at line level not low level (standard guitar output). I have a mini marshall stack practice amp too. Its real little runs on 9volt batt. or power supply. This is perfect for this also as it has the headphone out on it. But the rack mount preamp does a better job just alot bigger;) Any amp with line out is perfect for this. Then you just adjust your mixer and all settings are there. If oyu have a amp with line-in then its real fun! Cause I lay a track down (rythem and bass tracks) then loop it back to the monitor amp. At the same time I'm playing lead over top of it for practice and writting riffs. Great tool for getting licks down better. Thats why I love sound blaster live and audigy's (programable emu10k1 procesor) ability to handle soooo many tracks at once. Pc's and guitars were ment for each other! I also got cakewalk studio free with my sblive!:D :t

Ah stick with it. It takes patience BIG time. Me, been at guitar since I was 10 years old. So its been 14 years. 4 years lessons in the beging chords progresive scales harmonics and all that ****. Then I got in a band learned that jist and wanted to learn how to really wright music and learn how one even does it. Welp took two years advanced music (college level) in high school 11 and 12th grades. Wrote my first sympthony for the final in year two senior year...was fun.:D

Doesn't bloody matter to me, I'm deaf in one ear. All the surround sound in the world isn't going to help my **** when I'm getting shot at and running around like a chicken with it's head cutoff trying to find cover only to realize you can't hide if you don't know where the bloody fool is.

I much prefer EAX now that I have it. I never had much luck with A3D and certainly don't miss that **** buggy Turtle Beach card I had. It once gave me a huge headache with Norton AV. Yikes.

At any rate, as I say, EAX is it for me. Even my buddies have commented on my ability to react better in shooters. Until they knew that I'd put in an Augidy, I often heard, "What the @#$%&!! How did you know I was coming up behind you?!"

Of course, that said, I'm now ashamed of my gloating--especially considering Someone Stupid's comment. Sorry, Stupid! But if it's any consolation, your post made me laugh my @$$ off! ;)

A3D for me - I still use a Turtle Beach Montego II. Beats the pants of my old SBLive (RIP).

As some (like Someone Stupid) already know, this fits my situation as well.
