I just did an upgrade to Windows XP Professional and suddenly my system starts telling me that I don't have a sound card. I realize that the one I have may not be compatible with XP, so now I don't really know what to do. I need to either find a driver for the Opti Audio 16, or somehow get rid of this stupid XP that has caused me so much frustration. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?

Welcome to SysOpt

The problem is probably drivers. Xp, like Windows 2000 is built on NT technology and many applications (as well as hardware) will not run properly under Xp that ran fine under Win9x.

If you can find drivers for Xp try that. If not, try drivers for Win2K or Windows NT.

I have had bad luck with Opti sound systems, and stopped using those cards a long time back. Many crashes and lockups were finally traced to Opti sound.

Thank you very much for responding. I have tried to find drivers, and have come up empty handed. I don't really know where to look, have just been searching the internet for anything, and I'm not too too sure of what I am doing. Do you know where I should look to find the drivers?
