updating virus scan files.

I have mcaffee, I want to update the DAT files. Here's my question though...
I'm not religious about downloading and updating my DAT files (just religious about everything that I open), so when I download a new set of definitions, does that automatically update all of the old ones that I have missed, or do I have to go ahead and get some sort of total DAT file??

You only need to download the most recent virus definitions. Be sure to also check for an update for your virus checker engine.
