Does anyone know how to stop RealOne Player from starting up every time I insert a CD? Microsoft does it SO MUCH better with MPlayer 9.

I have disabled everything in the tools options, including every file association and "Start-up" in CD Category.

I only wanted it because the world's best website (BBC.co.uk) uses it for streaming video.

I should know better really, I have downloaded every version of Realnetworks products over the years and without exception they have been intrusive, invasive and lied consistently when accused of being a spam source, uploading personal data, ID,s littering the registry etc. They make Microsoft appear benign gents.

Phew I nearly got carried away then...

Did you go to preferences and disable StartCentre?

There isn't one in REALONE Player "Muchmark"! Or if there is I went blind during the ten times I have visited Preferences.

I had associated *.CDA and other file types etc., Muchmark.

I use XP Pro and to my surprise the correct association only came into effect when I re-booted my PC this morning! Wierd or what?

Thanks to all for their advice. I love this site and it's forums (probably the best site of its kind) but it seems too easy to start a war which is not my intention. I only posted my original comments in this thread about swearing after reading that "****" was frowned upon (very staid and old fashioned to me).

I wouldn't dream of criticising a non-English speaking person for incorrect usage of English, either in spoken or written form and I apologise if I inadvertently offended anyone.

I realise that any language develops with time but our hobby/passion/occupation with computers seems to be generating a sub-standard set of the language which is verging on illiteracy. Anyway I love verbal sparring matches and a sense of humour is paramount.

Keep up the good work lads
