Reading is fundamental.

Well I didn't read very carefully and now I am in a pickel.
I cannot read anything on my hardrive.
the error message I am receiving is "invalid media in drive."
I was trying to format my drive so I can install redhat. Now I cannot install anything.
Can I get a little assistance?

Thanx

Welcome to Sysopt

seems to me if you're not running a dual windows linux system in two partitions you shouldn't use fdisk and format

if you're installing redhat from a CD have you tried changing the bio setting to boot from the CD? seems to me it'll do the HDD format and install Linux with prompts - Redhat's site is very good with "how to" info and they can tell you (if not below) how to create a boot floppy (dos format diskette) by putting the CD is an windows machine if you need to boot from a floppy

or read this info......

what HDD do you have?

get the HDD software from the manufacture

and perform a Low Level Disk Format

it's actually healthy for the HDD
since it Re-magnetize all the cylinders
