Hi,
I need to upgrade bios for my P2B-DS motherboard. I have downloaded the updated bios but I don't know how to install it. The file format is in .awd.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the manual that came with your mobo? They usually include instructions on how to flash the bios in there, and the CD that comes with the mobo usually has the required software. Check the website of the mobo manufacturer if you don't get the information you need from the motherboards bundle.

1) Make a Windows Boot Diskette...If you don't have one now, you can make one by three methods.
a) By going to Control Panel\Add Remove Program\Boot Disk (Win9x)
b) By right clicking on the a: drive and selecting "format" and make sure to put a check to copy system files...
c) Format the disk by typing format a: /s at the DOS Prompt.
2) After you have made the Boot Diskette, copy the BIOS files to the Boot Diskette you just made....
3) Go into your BIOS and make sure you have the "Boot Sequence" to boot from drive a:. After you set the boot sequence, select "Save and Exit" and the system will reboot. Make sure you have the Boot Diskette in your Floppy Disk drive....
4) After you get to the DOS Prompt, type AWDFLASH.EXE or FLASHV73.EXE, which ever is on your Boot Diskette.
5) You will have the option to backup your curren BIOS to floppy disk, just answer [Y]. It will also ask you to type in the BIOS update file name, just type it in with the extension...
6) Sit back and relax and watch the meter climb and NEVER restart the system until the BIOS update is complete! If you do, you will have a bad flash and most likely end up with a non-bootable system!
Note: If you aren't too sure about what you're doing, you may want to have someone who does next to you that can walk you through the procedure... BIOS updates are usually a one-time deal, you don't get a second chance when you make a mistake....
Sometimes, things just don't go right when doing a BIOS update! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
