It sends HALT instruction to the CPU while it's not under load, thus causing it to cool down. Perfectly safe.

I have the same MB (MSI KT3) with an XP 2000 and had the same question.

The PC Alert Cooler cools my system down by 7-10 C on the hot days when I tried it. Last night was cool here and my system was running at 38 under full load- so I forgot to try it.

FYI, the CPU temp under Fuzzy logic and PC Alert are both off by at least 4 degrees on my system. I noticed this yesterday when I Downloaded Speed Fan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) - I then doubled checked the #'s in the Bios.

So you might want to check that out.

Anyone know how I can get this program? I have a KT3 Ultra-2 but it only came with PC Alert III, which doesn't have this feature. I've already tried a program like VCool but it doesn't work.

You will need to download the latest Software Here (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/software/swr/spt_swr_list.php)

It is just the latest Version-- it does seem to work better than the previous.

I just downloaded Alert 4 and I noticed the same thing, the temps are off by about 4-5 degrees. That's ok I guess, the CoolerXP option is working nicely :) Don't know what causes it though, under PC Alert 3 the temps match the BIOS ones so I have no idea...

I just found out that you can run PC Alert III with CoolerXP since it isn't built into PC Alert 4, so that takes care of that problem :)

Your system should have a monitoring program that can monitor the temps-- if not than downloadSpeedFan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) -- works well for me - or after your system has been running for a while, reboot and look in your Bios.
