The only reason I bought the WIN ME is because I wanted to upgrade from 128 ram to 256 ram, but my PC dealer told me that I won't see any difference with that upgrade if I have WIN 98, he said I'd have to get WIN ME because it reads more ram. (I know he's not ripping me off, coz I knew this person for over 6 years) Well I've been having problems with some games and I think its because of WIN ME, should I get rid of it and go back to 98?? or could I download like any drivers, patches or files for WIN ME to make it work better? If I should, could you please tell me where.

thanx

If the "only" reason you got ME was because someone told you WinME "reads more Ram" then you're the victim of some really bad advice.

Win98 will definitely take advantage of the extra 128MB. Not as big a performance gain as jumping from 64MB to 128MB, but your overall system performance will definitely improve with 256MB.

I have not heard that ME was optimized with more ram in mind. I do know that 98 was optimized to run with 128 and can benefit from higher amounts, but like Fingers said, the benefits are not felt as profoundly.

Windows 2000 on the other hand can take efficiently use as much as you can throw at it.

I would suggest to scrap both (depending on hardware, of course) and get win 2000. This Sunday, compUSA is selling win 2000 Pro for $99 after rebates. Not sure if this is an option, but should give you better results.
