I used to have a list of fonts that could be deleted from windows..hell, windows comes with 2 or 3 hundred of these useless things that load at every boot...
..save some, delete some...
...anyone maybe remember what you can delete and which ones you have to keep?......Win98SE.......Ol'Ben

Careful deleting fonts -- you probably only use a small fraction of what you've got (I've got 30), but if one is being used on your desktop & you delete it..........
Search here with the keywords Default fonts 98:

Thanks..I know there are do's and don't's....I'm just trying to speed up my boot up.....I just found I have 153 fonts loading on this thing every boot.....you only need a very few of those..I am being very careful....thanks for the url...Ol'Ben
The biggest thing you can do to speed up your bootup is to turn off programs not being used! All that other stuff is so insignificant! Microprocessors are pretty fast these days and can handle a huge load.
But if you're a SERIOUS overclocker, using human plasma to cool your computer, then you're in a different class!
But for us "normal" users, a good hard drive with a cache, RAM, and turning off unnecessary programs will increase things. Doing a lot of other things will bring slight increase in performace, but you'll have an ugly screen also!
It would be like pulling out seats in a car to get extra mileage from the reduced weight!
