Hey,
I just installed myself a second fan in my computer for the whoppin amount of 0.00$ (canadian .

Here is how; Just got to your closet and get that old 286 (or any other old piece of ****) that is collecting dust but that you dont want to trash because it ran Stunt so well. Get a screwdriver and open the case.

This part is not meant to be done by kids, and even adults must be very careful:

Unscrew the powersupply and open it. Be very careful, capacitator remain charge for years and can cause serious electrocution so dont stick your fingers in there. Then, unscrew the fan thats in there and take it out.

These fan are usually 12v and standard size... You have a few option to connect it on your new computer. If the connector on the fan and the one for a second fan on your motherboard are the same then you are done, just connect and power-up. It is more likely that the connector on your motherboard is 3-pin and the one on the fan is 2-pin. Again, two way of fixing this. The first one is if you have a tiny power wire along with your other 12v connector(The hard drives connectors...) you can connect your fan to it by cutting the connectors from the two places (fan and powerwire) and strip them a bit and connect the red wire with the red wire and black with black(its a ground). Did I mention you should turn your computer off? hehe... Cover the expose wire with electric tape (leave them seperate dont tape both wires together).

If you dont have that tiny wire with your power supply. You can always get an old 486 fan/heatsink connector and use that to connect to your power supply.

et Voila!

You now have a nice airflow in your case...
It keeps my p2-300@450 with two V2s running in SLI at 30C (80 some farheneit)...

Be careful with old power supply...they bite...hard!

Hey Doc, that's pretty neat. Too bad I don't have an old power supply laying around.
