Evening guys and gals!

I`ve just ADSL installed at work. I don't know if it`s just my ISP or what, but each time I log on, I have a different IP.

Ok, not a major problem I know. I set up the computer to automatically dial in when it boots. Ok, great speed, and so on....

But, when I`m not at work, I want to leave the computer on, and run a small gamer server for up to 6 people. Don`t worry, I won`t get fired, it`s a family business!

Well, I could check the IP before I go home, and inform the people that want to plat before we join the server. But, if the computer gets disconnected, and auto redials, then It`ll have a different IP.

So, what I need is a way of having the IP mailed to me at home (Cable). Then, is the IP changes, it`s not a problem!

So, anyone got any idea`s? Thanks in advance guys & gals!

TD.

Try this: http://www.dyndns.com/
Then you don't have to worry about emailing the updated ones.

Just what I was going to suggest. But there are free ones as well. I just don't have the url here at work. Do a search on google and you can easily find the free one, I am sure.

Any other ideas then? Thanks though......

I use http://www.dyndns.org/ which is free and works well.

Another idea, would be to have your computer automatically email you (from work to home) periodically. Within the email you should be able to get your IP address. Like in Outlook Express go to the received email, then File, Properties...within there you can get the IP info. One idea to get email sent from work to home...setup an auto-reply email based on on a subject or similar.
