I changed the jumper settings in a quantum bigfoot 4 gb hd and forgot to write them down, I have tried every setting and keep getting a message no operating system found, the standard compaq message I think. I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

The drive in question has DS, CS, and PK, DS is master, I have tried it in different systems, the BIOS recognizes it, just won't boot, even in system as a second drive it is recognized, but does not show up in windows? I am wondering if it is possible that the jumpers for this drive, go horizontal instead of vertical, i remember thinking something was odd when I originally looked at them. My fault for not writing it down. Anymore ideas, I appreciate. Thanks

I think that compaq setup their machines to use the CS(cable select)

That's right. That also means you have to use the right cable connector on the hd.

I agree with you, this is not my computer, I built my own recently, it is my in-laws, and it is horrible.
