I can not load winXP again, only win98, ideas?? cheers!! heli212 09-07-2002, 01:25 PM  when I tryed to load from bootmagic 7 winXP I recibed the next message: " Preparing machine to load WinXP" ......... "Remove disks or other media" "Press any key to restart" I have no disks or other media in the pc and when a press any key, I go back to squere one! Strawbs 09-07-2002, 01:57 PM XP has its own boot manager and it gets moody when it doesn't get to choose the OS. try swapping primary drive to slave and vice versa, then maybe boot magic will load XP or XP will load itself, Either way you should let XP's own boot manager provide the choices, and save Boot Magic for times of desparation. Cluedo 09-07-2002, 04:16 PM Boot from the XP CD-ROM (after setting BIOS to boot from CD). Use RepairInstallation or Inspect boot sector to fix the MBR. Win98 install overwrites the XP boot info. At the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press F10 or press R to repair, and start the Windows Recovery Console. Links below explain it better than I and you can print them out also. KB Article on Recovery Console http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q314058& Or use Windows setup to repair: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q314503& Good graphics and info here (http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm#How%20to%20Repair%20the%20Boot%20Sec tor:) Webtree has several good repair xp tips (http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm) heli212 09-07-2002, 09:02 PM :x THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!!:t cheers!! Cluedo 09-07-2002, 10:18 PM Good luck. One favour? Post back what works or works best? Haven't had to do it myself...but ya never know. (Dual booting 98/SE on C:\ and XP on J:\ (different physical drives.) Tks. :) (If I see a humongous plume of fire and smoke from the north, no need to post; I'll assume neither worked. :D ) SysOpt.com
