I'm a newbie and I'm planning on getting a new computer. If you could answer some of my questions I'll appreciate it.

#1 - What affect does the rpm and seek times of hard drives have? Will getting more space but with a lower rpm and seek time affect the system much? And if so, what affect does it have on games, utilities .....etc?

#2 - Which celeron (300, 366, 400 ...etc)would be the best value for money on an Asus P3B-F board? And which celeron will produce the best result when overclocked?

I think that's all for now. Thanks for helping.

Hi, JonJack! The Celeron 466 performs great and very easy to overclock. If you can wait till August 2, Intel will lauch the Celeron 500 for $169.00. It looks like a great price. In terms of hard drive, I recommend no less than 7200 rpm because it gives you great speed and access time to your applications.IBMs or WDs with 2meg buffer. Make sure that you have a good 3-d video card for the games. It makes a big difference! This is a good website www.overclockers.com. Hope it helps.

Well, you can also find a good deal of Celeron 366s that also hit 550 MHz. They aren't everywhere (I only got 1 out of 3 retail CPUs and it needs very good cooling or a 70 degree room temp), but they are there. Supposedly, the OEM do better, but I don't know.
