it doesn't matter, it's still a thread :D

it's like comparing a human life vs an insect life, but still a life is a life :)

besides if people don't start talking more non sense, there will be no point to have a forum right ;)

the forum can't go hungry for too long else it'll die )-|

Yeah, my system USED to be top-notch almost 2 years ago. NOW it's like the jock/stud from high school a few years back, you know, the guy that got ALL the chicks. Now, when you see him by chance at the mall or whatever, he's got the pot-belly, two chins, smells kinda strange and dragging 3 kids around like mother goose. That is NOT a description of myself, at least not the part about the chicks...

Definately not the best, but above average:

-ECS K7S5A ver. 3.1 (CheepoBIOS)

Mr Miy

I also have the same mobo and cpu. Mine can oc up to 150/150 (1.65gh).

I'm wondering, what cpu fan and heatsink do you use for yours? Is it loud? Can you give me the specs of the hsf? Thanks

Mr Miyagi
09-06-2002, 07:25 PM
Mine will do 150, but randomly decides when it will boot and not. When it does, it is rock-solid. Ran several 3D Marks and played 2hrs. of Serious Sam. Shup off the box and went to bed. Got up and cranked it -- NO POST. Fiddled a bit and up it came and was rock solid. Being the differences are only in benchmarks, I may just leave it at 147. The K7S5A will not allow for multiplier or voltage changes, so those have to be forced on the CPU...

I use a Volcano 9 (Just got it yesterday) when set manually, it is fairly quiet. Runs at 48-52 under full load. I can run it cooler, but I have to crank up the fan a little. Not bad considering that Radeon upps the case temp when stressed...

Games, Very Smooth Multitasking, Games, Video Editing, Picture Editing, Games, Some 3D modeling for Logos with FXs, and hmm.... more Games, and i play with a lot of OSs, and more Games, and hmm... just about anything i want to do :D, just plain total freedom with all that RAM.

20% to 47% in used at times in average

on iddle when Windoze is just loaded 19% is in use

oh i don't use Swap / or Page / or Linuxswap paritions

i load everything onto the RAM, very nice performance.

in Win9x i dissable the Swap, in Win2k i use ram drive, to mount the page file in the ram-drive, WinXP, i just dissable the Page, and in LInux i also dissable the Page, in Netware no need for cache, in OS/2, no much to do there, but also no swap, and in BeOS also no swap, and ... and... geez well about the same idea across the board. :t

uh why do you primary ram for ram drive/page file?

Wouldn't it be that page file is only needed if primary ram runs out?:t :t

Have you ever tried setting PageFile to 0 zero in Win2k ?

it wont allow you
minimum is 2 meg

and then it keeps naggggggggging you about it until you enlarge it to at least 20meg

how stupid eh?

WinXP/95/98/ME and Linux is better
they wont BUG! you to death about it.

they simply happily let you dissable the PageFile / SwapFile / Swap partition

Win2k is just :x crazy :D

Im with AG the win2k pagefile can be a lil annoying at times... especially the inability to let windows auto-handle it....
