I've heard it's a good idea to have a separate partition for your swap file in Windows 98, so I gave that a shot. What I'm wondering is if Windows 2000 benefits from this as well. I have 192 megs of RAM, so I don't know if i need a paging file in there at all.

The best thing you can do to your swapfile is to move it to another prefferably faster drive than your windows drive. Moving it to another partition on the same disc as windows, won't do you much good since the harddrive has to seek between these to partitions constantly.

Either run it on the same drive, or use another, faster drive for swapping.

For increased speed, lock the minimum size of your swapfile to twice your memory ammount, and then make sure it has no maximum.

So just putting the swap file in the last partition doesn't matter much at all in either OS?
