my computer has stopped reading audio cd's with anything other than windows media player, and since this is not my player of choice i am a little annoyed.
so does anyone know how i would replace the aspi files ? so's to be able to use winamp again, i use win2k
'failed to aspi driver status' is the message i see when trying to run winamp or a program called neoaudio that i use for backing up my cd's
Try here (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&cat=%2fProduct%2fASPI-4.70&prodkey=Windows+ASPI+Package).

new error :(
ASPI error:0x4 (SRB completed with error)
Sense key:0x2(Not ready) Sense code:0x3A 0x0 (medium not present)
any ideas on that one ? that error message came up after i installed the aspi drivers from adaptec. do you think that it could be some sort of copy protection on the disk as it is a fairly recent CD ?

do you recall what programs have you installed recently or in the past while that has anything to do with CD/RW DVD/ROM ?!?!?
try to uninstall them all
then see if you still have the same problem
if you do, then there seems to be some left over drivers from another program
CDRWin 3.x or 4.x comes to mind
just remove the excess drivers, and then only re-install the ones from Adaptec
