red faction

im stuck on a part on red faction. i just got finished sabatoging all of the rooms (control room, lava control, turbine, etc...), and that engineer on my side helped me. we both had to push the buttons at the same time. know that part. well i started going down the hall. i get to the submarine place. shoot the guard. blow up thewall, so i can get to the control panel. (the door is locked). i flip the switch, and the lever starts to lower the sub. right when it lets go of the sub, the sub blows up????!!!!!!!!what? i beat the PS2 version, and i dont remenber that ever happening. am i supposed to swim, because when i do, the enemy sub blows me up????!!!:confused:
