HEya,
Been a designer for quite a while but I need a little programming suggestions here.
I have two versions of a website where only the navigation changes but the content is the same. I need to devise a way to update both of these pages from a single source os that the client doesnt have to update a bunch of pages at once.
What would be the best way to do this?
I have seen a few ways of updating via, js, asp, but is there also ways to do it with php or xml?
Thanks

I am just starting to work with php so I may not be of much help, but, IF you have dreamweaver mx it provides coding for asp, php, coldfusion etc., so if you know how to use one form it may help you with the other.
Also try checking out the developers section of macromedia's website, I happen to be browseing their php section as I write this and it seems to provide some useful info.
Good luck, Don.:t

That's brilliant!
984637 versions of a website
where only the navigation changes
...client doesnt have to update a bunch of pages at once....
who is doing the updating?
why content no change?
how many versions again?

hmm, I did this with ASP but for different reasons...What I did was create text files for the content and ASP pages for the layout (i.e. this post would be held in seperate text file). I then simply attached to the text file and displayed the html.
PHP is similar language in what it can do, but having no experience of it I can't help., try www.php.net

Doh it was too simple, I just did it with server side includes... cake.
I thought there was a PHP, XML or ASP solution but that was just making things more complicated. I didn't need a full database setup.
qball to answer your question:
There are two navigations one is a "enhanced" navigation for newer browsers and a "basic" navigation for older browsers. The navigation is different because one uses layers and the other doesnt. So the content is the same because it is the same website so theres no point in typing the same hting twice now is there? That is the reason.
THanks :)

your explanation is:
lame, that is the reason.

If my answers bother you, keep asking questions.
If your original question is :
"Dynamically Updating multiple pages from single source?"
Please explain how easy cake is, so we all learn. Else, lame.
but, never got answers to (nor want):
who is doing the updating?
why content no change?
how many versions again?
smells like browser sniffing!
qball, do you help anyone?
no, or I doubt...
