This IS NOT a big deal...Just an annoyance or an Inquisitive thing!

I have brought this question up before but with no results as of yet.

Does anyone know how to hack the Registry so that in IE5.5, when you go to your favorites button, up top next to the View button and you click on any of the topics listed (ie. links etc.) and it lists all your favorite sites or bookmarks and it has an arrow that you have to scroll with, if you have a lot of sites entered, to find the right one...

This IS NOT the same fix as the one for the Start/Programs multiple columns that has been posted before.

If you use Netscrape, it does it in their program. But, IE doesn't do it in theirs.

If there are any pros or others out there that want to challenge this request, then try your best.

I would really like to hear how or if you have found the solution.

I have checked the Netscrape registry to find any keys on how they do it but have been unable to succeed.

Maybe there isn't a way but I think there is...as OutPatient said...There is always a way to find a tweak for something (or something like that)

Good luck in your challenge. But please don't fret over this if you can't solve it. Like I said, it's not a big deal (**** right it is!!..Ha,Ha)

Looking forward to some results.

Thanks http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Hey,
I know a great way to do this. I could do it simpally but that is probably because I am a programmer and know how to edit programs... So you should goto school and learn it and then do it yourslef. Because it is kinda illegal to tell you how to alter a Microsoft program for your enjoyment.

Great first post young_comp_tech, maybe you could have "informed" R[][]FER without giving away your well schooled secrets, of course no one here would lead you into doing something illegal, but most of us do like to help each other in understanding things we come accross and cant find an answer to...

R[][]FER - sorry man, I don't have an answer for you.

young_comp_tech - normally I would keep my peace, but somehow I just have to say that I believe you are blowing smoke. In other words I don't believe you.

If you don't have something to offer then why even mention it?

There are literally thousands of tweaks and tricks posted on the web that allow people to customize the UI of many Windows programs; I don't see hoards of people being arrested -do you?

Furthermore, this comment: "Because it is kinda illegal to tell you how to alter a Microsoft program for
your enjoyment." might be kind of impossible too - without the source code - don't you think?

young_comp_tech, with all due respect, that was a very ignorant answer.
The question that R[][]FER asked is exactly what this message board is here for.

If you don't intend to help, then keep your smart comments to yourself!

Ok, so he made a silly comment, let's not crucify the poor guy.

R[][]FER, good news - I found the answer to your question, bad news - it's not the answer you want.

It does look like we're piling on y_c_t, but if you look at the post times, we all replied without having viewed the other responses, which confirms my belief that he deserved to be scolded.

Having said that, there's no reason for us to hold this against young_computer_tech as long as he's more helpful in the future. I suppose I've made my share of ill-advised comments in the past as well. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

y_c_t, I certainly don't think there's anything either illegal nor immoral about helping someone customize their version of Windows to suit their personal preferences. If you have a simple solution for R[][]FER, posting it would certainly go a long way toward your redemption. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Your question is a bit unclear!!

First, if you just need a "full screen" view of your Favorites, you can run the entire Favorites Folder in the background from Windows Explorer or My Computer. Just leave that opened!

But for drop down menu, using My Computer or Windows Explorer, you can organize your Favorites into different folders. You can use copy and paste to put any particular URL into multiple folders!

Thanks everyone for your replies.

OuTpaTienT...Thanks for clearing that up. I guess for now, it's going to be the folders and sub-folders.

young_comp_tech...
I think I'd be wasting my time going to school to find this out because nobody would teach that to me...It's illegal, don't you know? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Oh and by the way, it's spelled...SIMPLY...not simpally.
You're FIRED http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
