Hello,

I need to find something more than just basic data about relational databases eg. what they are, how they run etc. It is for me, not for any professional use.
Searching through the web did not produce anything useful for my (low) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif level of understanding.
If you know any site with something like that I will be more than grateful.

Thank you

Medo

You're probably best off with a book. I don't know the purpose of what you want, but I found I came to understand Relational Databases quite well with An Introduction to Database Systems by C.J. Date. Date got in the Relational database world just after its design and has designed many relational database products.

I highly recommend that book for someone wanting to understand what makes databases tick, but I'd recommend some other book for actually figuring out how to create and use one.

I also have written a paper on Object Oriented databases that refers somewhat to Relational databases. I learned quite a bit writing that paper.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. The reason is very simple; I’d like to expand my understanding in this area.
I’d looked in my University library and most of the books are reserved for the rest of the semester and the city libraries are hopeless when it comes to that area, so I thought, maybe someone noticed on the web some good essay or similar about that subject.
