i installed napster and was going to sign up when i got a message from zonealarm asking if i would give permission to go to 127.0.0.1
That seemed odd to me so i traced the ip to pop3.norton.antivirus , but i disabled the email scanning feature along time ago. how could i disable requests being forwarded like this? does any1 know why this is still on? netstat -n produces no active connections

127.0.0.1 is your localhost address. It's reserved for the TCP/IP stack. Napster is most likely just checking to make sure that you have TCP/IP installed, since if you don't the IP won't resolve.

why when i go to command prompt and type tracert 127.0.0.1 it says.. tracing pop3.norton.antivirus [127.0.0.1]
why is norton antivirus posing as local host?

Because it's intercepting data and protecting you from viruses.

where did you disable it from?
it is probably hiding in your start up files or registry.
