I just got this game and would love to learn to play it well, but find the documentation a bit confusing.
My net searches were not much good. I guess it's still pretty new.
Do you know of a site, guidebook, or forum that might help me to understand the game and play it better? I sense greatness, but my primate brain can't reach it. Maybe if I pile up boxes and use a stick....

"The Art of War" - old book will help - it's what they used to program the AI :D
It will be similar to Shogun : Total war, although the inclusion of seige weapons will change it somewhat.

I remember reading about that somewhere...by Shuetsu or something like that. Written in Fuedal japan I believe.
Unless it's something by Von Claustwitz.
Anyway, I really was kinid of hoping to find something that would kind of hold my hand and teach me how to play the game; how much to spend on what, when to build what ,what to build first, that sort of thing.
My armies are always defeated despite thier superior numbers!

TotalWar.org (http://www.totalwar.org/) and Medieval: Total War at fourbelowzero (http://www.fourbelowzero.com/games/strategy/MTW/index.htm). Both sites have forums.

I did.
Do you need to have a strict build order to make it work?
I just built cheap soldiers until I ran out of money, and got clobbered..
