My goodness! You would think that a bunch of you work for Micro$oft judging by the way I got slammed for trying to hack a program that I DID PAY FOR as part of my class. "it violates the EULA..." please, as if you have never copied a CD for anyone before.
Where do you think I got the preliminary info to begin with? A forum just like this! This is something that I have never even attempted before, I was simply curious as to how the registry gets changed in order to do it, and this was as good as any other piece of software to use.
And, by the way, the reason I can't buy a student copy is they don't exist at our bookstore any longer -- only XP (duh)! Since I am funded by scholarships and the like I don't have a platinum card to throw down for every experiment like so many of you law-abiding citizens.
Sorry, but hypocrisy kinda gets on my nerves...

hey - lighten up - if this is how your week's gonna start you're in for a long one........
no hypocrisy here - the forum has good rules anout hacking, cracking, serialz, warez and all the stuff that just about every software provider is monitoring nowadays
no microsoft hype here - in fact you'll get more complaints than praise on how they treat their customers - but they and others are serious about trying to make things difficult for sites that help irresponsible hacks - nobody said you were one - but when asking questions like you did in the other post, you can expect the answers you got, so maybe this forum doesn't work for you - you can always try others if you'd like
I still think it's one of the best around, and lots of guys offer very good advice and spend alot of time helping others with some very tough (and some incredibly simple) problems for novice and experienced users - it's your choice
and hope you have a better day!

you paid for an evaluation copy
you don't need to go to your local book store - online is a great place to start - in the UK I know of at least 7 different places to buy MS software cheap.
Experiment - thats what the evaluation copy if for, experiment for 30 days and then decide.

Ask your instructor or professor to explain what “copyright” means.
Or when you join a site like this one, take a few extra minutes to actually read the rules YOU agreed to.

Also on the same note
If you are taking any courses, or know a friend profesor or something.
you can always buy the Educational version.
which 90% of the time is the Full thing, just at way lower prices, sometimes even less than 50% of the original price
Only very few softwares are actually cripped off the good stuff.
but software companies are too busy to spend time Cripping out their software to sell it at lower prices to Schools and Colleges.
heck you can even ask your Kids to buy a copy of whatever in their school. :t

You all miss my point -- I paid for and own this baby, now I can do with it what I like. You don't have to like it or help, but you also don't need to make any comment either.
But in response to some of you who did try to offer helpful suggestions, please understand that I have already exhausted all my resources in trying to get this done.
Those who presumed to lecture me (as if I don't understand what a copyright or eula is...please!) obviously have no recollection of the last time they broke a speeding law, or didn't pay sales tax on a cash purchase at a computer show, or burned a copy of a CD for a friend. It is all the same thing, we are all guilty of breaking laws and agreements periodically. So what bugs me is the condescension.
By the way, Steve, I hope that the next person that mentions (and I have seen it occur here) having made a copy of a piece of software gets the same treatment, because it is also in violation of certain laws and therefore falls under the same restrictions of this site's rules!!
If you have technical advice, fine. Keep your personal views to yourself. I don't presume to jucge you or lecture you. My advice stays on the technical end of the spectrum, I would appreciate you doing the same.

This site is just 1 of maybe a hundred sites owned by internet.com which means they are an easy target for lawsuits so if MS lets say decides to sue who do you think is going to spend a lot of money trying to stay afloat dealing with lawsuits right and left yet you and others who ask how to hack software just walk merrily away without a care. Does that make sense.
And I wouldn't be saying that to the administrator of this site but guess you'll hear from him.

Dave, buddy pal. In your last post YOU specifically asked about how to extend a trial version piece of software so that you could use it longer. That’s a no no here and at most sites like this one. What part of that don’t you understand??
“You will not use these Forums for the purposes of sharing or distributing viruses, licenses, registration information, software keys, "cracks," or other information designed to do harm to or allow unlawful access to any computer hardware, software, networks, or any other systems.”

What dont you understand?
You asked for help with a illegal crack for highly pirated software on a forum that is owned by someone who wishes to not be sued due to the likes of people dropping in to say "hey how do you get XP to last forever" or whatnot. Your here and gone but the bill to be pated is on the table so who you think pays it? Point is you did agree to these rules upon entering this site.

Did you ever hear of the term "justifiaction by means" This is why you think we should help you? Two wrongs dont make a right do they? They make TWO wrongs! Secondly this kinda reasoning is the type children in the play ground use when fighting- "you punched my arm so I can punch his" Teacher "stop it" " but tommy did it too/first". Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............. Point is "yes" some here prob. do have pirated software. And yes some prob. make backup cd's etc. they shouldnt. But you know this site will not tolirate this-there are sites that will, ask them!!!! Gotta be a W"""""Z forum somewheres. But a site like this can not ablige this and the members here HAVE RESPECT for that (or get booted)! Its law man, what can you do? Go with it,,,,,,....
Now I'm not lecturing you, I do see your point also..I have no disrespect for you or anything cause of what your trying to do, but I cant/wont help you, this site cant/wont help you both for the same reason. Hope you understand. Now if you have ANY other problems that adhere to the forum rules (legal) go ahead and ask, isnt that enuff? You act like we owe this info. to you or somthing? Peace,:t

To view the EULA, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Double-click the systemroot folder (usually windows), click Show Files if necessary, and then double-click the System32 folder. Click Show Files, and then scroll down and double-click eula.txt
If you actually read the Eula, then you'll know you didn't buy the product, you just paid the usage fee. Microsoft still owns the rights to the Windows products.
5. LIMITATION ON REVERSE ENGINEERING,
DECOMPILATION, AND DISASSEMBLY. You may
not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the
Product, except and only to the extent that it is expressly
permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this
limitation.
