Hi!
I use Outlook ( :r yes I know...) and here's my question about it:
If I recieve mail with a picture attached to it (such as a jpg for instance) i'd like to see the picture when I open the mail. This used to be the case with Outlook Express, but with Outlook I get to see an attachment-pictogram (like a file).
Anyone know how to get to see the picture within the message? All help is greatly appreciated!

Bye

i'll suggest any other email software for what you want.

If you enable that feature in Outlook/express

then you are 100% running any virus / hacking tool that comes to you via e-mail.

regardless of the patches you have installed.

i use Mozilla e-mail, and it'll auto show attachments, without actually running it

Outlook will run the attachments as soon as they are previewed.

Hi AllGamer,
I'm not previewing via the preview pane, but I just open the mail. Does that make a difference?

Depending how they send it to you.

if people sent it as a MIME then it will load up automatically

if they sent it as an Attachment, then you'll need an exterior program to open it. :t

Quote from AG, "If you enable that feature in Outlook/express

This is utter nonsense. I have used Outlook Express in HTML mode since the beginning of IE and have never once been infected with a viris and I have recieved dozens of them as attachments. I do however keep up with the security patches and I don't open attachments that I am not expecting. If a picture is added to an E-mail, it will show up in the message if the format is set to HTML, but not text only mode. If however it is sent as an attachment then it has the potential to run a viris program if the attachment is opened. I have never used AV software and so far have never found the need to. Actually I don't worry about it anyway as I keep a full system drive image on a drive that is not even plugged in unless I am updating it.

I agree.
I have used Outlook / Outlook Express for some 3yrs now and haven't had any probs.

If you are not using the preview pane, but double clicking you may be better off - you can vet the emails first, but it is still risky.

Personally I wouldn't do it, open the attachment later - it is far safer.
