Facing a barage of complaints from consumers threatening to boycott any form of "cripple-ware," IBM has withdrawn its controversial proposal to have CPRM (Copy Protection for Recordable Media) inserted into the ATA specification that governs hard disks.

One article states that IBM received over 20,000 pages of negative email over this proposal in just one day..

sorry no link, still looking for the article I read this morning.

Thanks drizzle! I read that one and another short article that I can't remember. Anyway, it just goes to show that our consumer opinions do count for something.

Hallelujah!

Glad to see some corporations still listen to us "little" guys! Goes to show there's power in numbers. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
