Yes my sisters now infamous PC is up sh** creek again, she went out today so i took the opportunity to install office as she has been moaning about it recently - whilst installing i tried to load up my MSN and IE, no go... i had another look... EVERYTHING web related is a no go

The LAN is working fine but she cant access externally, i managed to get MSN to sign in once for all of a minute but thats it, i cant understand it - i uninstalled zone alarm from my host machine but nope... i have all the TCP settings right im sure, ive checked ive got ICS enabled but nottin doing...

I cant ping externally either from the machine, its as trhough it aint even bothering to look - just "host not found" immediatley...

The two are connected via NIC's and crossover cable, ive checked cabling and it seems okay -- any ideas??

Im gonna wring her bloody neck when i get in

Well.. the plot thickens - she CAN get outside access as MSN messenger (her favourite toy) is working hunky dory...

She doesnt have a POP email so i cant check that -- any ideas??

Cheers

The best solution is to spend massive amounts of money. That always works. :p

Try removing her NIC from Device Manager and restarting. Use INETWIZ.EXE to reset preferences.

Well - inetwiz.exe didnt do teh trick im afraid :(, my settings were like that to start with anyways, so that cant be the root of the problem, im gonna try setting up one of my pop emials on it tongit to see if just IE's at fault -- but that still dont explain why the it wont ping externally :(

Cheers

Did you remove the NIC drivers and TCP/IP? You need to to try refreshing them. I know I'm real wordy sometimes ( ), but try to read all of my massive posts. ;)

just finished doing that Bill, and - no result again im afraid, the thing that seems odd to me is the way in which when pingin it brings up the cant find host message instantly -- as though it aint even looking

Next up im gonna try a repair install, whats really kafufling me though is how Messenger can work though

Back from my motorcycle trip to Fort Worth, Jakk. Looks like you have it fixed.

Loo at it this way. If Windows didn't throw you a curve now and then, things would be pretty boring in PC Land, right? You would stagnate and start acting like an AOL user. :p
