Welcome to SysOpt!
Now please stop with the capital letters.
OK:
1. What do you mean by "locked"? If the drive doesn't work, you can put it in a zip lock baggie and place it in the freezer for a awhile and then try to get your data quickly.
2. Did your new drive come with software? If so, use it to copy the old drive to the new one after the freezer trick.
3. You can also remove the old drive, install your OS to the new drive and then mount the old drive as a slave. You then copy what you need.

Let me understand this. Your system crashed, you bought a hard drive to install and now you don't have a clue what to do? Did you read the drive instructions? Do you have instructions?
If you can't answer my questions, Trish, you would probably be best off taking the system to a local shop. There's just too much ground to cover for this forum. :(

no i don't have instructions. I called around and no one seems to be able to service laptops here without sending it away. It is my moms and my son is the one who broke it and the guy at the store said all i needed to do was slide the hard drive in and reload windows but that didn't work so i guess i'll have to send it in
