How can I change or hide my IP address

Is this possible? I have heard of a dynamic IP address.

I use a Windows based PC and access the internet with a cable modem connection usually.

Is there software out there to mask or hide my IP address.

What is http://anonymizer.com/

I am just trying to be as anonymous on the net. I do not like the idea of someone/anyone knowing my IP address. Not exactly sure why, just that I prefer to remain hidden on the net from unknown things out there!

I use Norton Internet Security, but apparently my IP address seems like common knowledge.

You're being paranoid. Your modem's IP address cannot be hidden. You can hide behind a router, but anyone with half a brain can locate your ISP and track you down in minutes.

Modem - IP visible
PC - IP visible

Modem - IP visible
Router - visible
PC - hidden
