Hey, I've heard that the newest AMD XP2600 won't work on my motherboard. I was thinking that a BIOS upgrade would make it work. Comments?

I don't see a reason why shouldn't it. It uses KT266 chipset, with latest BIOS upgrade you should have 16x multiplier.

Since mainboards don't do the multiplying - the CPU itself does that - all you need is a BIOS update to identify the new CPU revision and speed grade correctly.

Unlike at Intel, the new speed grade's power consumption is inside the limits set by AMD, so electrically there's nothing to fear either.
