I've heard of it, what is it, what is it good for, who does it, what is required, and are there different level of certification? Do you just study for a test or are semester hours required?

It's also a good foundation for higher level certs, like MCSE,CCNA CNS, etc. Alot of community colleges offer A+ courses, some book learning and some class time. It is supposed to show you have around 6 months to a year working on PC's and are competent in working on them and troubleshooting hardware/software problems. MSCE and CCNA are quite a bit tougher to obtain, and carry more weight in the industry, especially the CCNA. You can study for CCNA and take the exam with no hands on or practical exp, but it is tough, and with the Cisco exam, you cannot back up to mark questions to answer later. Cisco expects you to know your stuff and structures their exams so that if can pass, you will be able to do the work in the field. derek79602 02-21-2001, 06:22 AM That helps, I'll check into that. Thanks! derek79602 02-21-2001, 06:24 AM BTW you're a toughy SoCalGal!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif struggles 02-21-2001, 07:24 PM Desmos right on the money. The place to start is a+ certification. I took a course at a local college for a+. Then went and took the tests. It consists of two seperate tests, the core(hardware) and the win/dos test. Both were relatively easy, if you studied. Next, you can move on to networking or anything else that interests you. Check it out at: www.comptia.com (http://www.comptia.com) Good luck! derek79602 02-22-2001, 06:54 AM Killer link....
