Okay, I'm an official twit today folks. I ordered the Y S Tech TMD Fan and Heatsink combo from newegg.com - FULLY KNOWING that it was a Socket 478 HSF. My little ol Socket A needs a new HSF though, so, well - I ordered the YS Tech fan anyhow.

Can you say "Duh" ?

I got it today and decided to try and install it, nope - looks like I'll have to go medeivel on the Heatsink with a dremel and make some custom clips. Fun, indeed - fun.

In lighter news though...jeez! This new fan design kicks tail, this thing sucks a heck of a lot of air through it, I don't even have it mounted on the processor...just blowing at it, and its performing better then the Cooler Master POS I had on there *laughs*.

Nice...quiet too, quieter then the CM fan, sucks like a vacuum, blows like a...umm...nevermind :D

finally got the temp down to 100 F...normally runs at 107-109 F

I imagine when I get the much weightier/dense Copper plated Y S Tech heatsink mounted (Post Butchering) it'll be down to where its supposed to be, and I can get back to safely overclocking the shiznit out of my system

Woohoo! :t

If you get really close to the fan (Don't buzz your ears folks) as it spins up...you'll hear something reminiscent of an F-16 Spinning up for take-off.

Sweeeeeeeet.

All in all, so far - I'm really impressed by this thing.

More to come once I get the HSF Modified. Only downside is the strange 70mm footprint.

Hmm, Hope they get the 80mm ones out soon...*laughs* if they ever come out with 120mm versions of the TMD fan, I want one!

Found out another useful little tidbit, attempting to clean arctic silver off of a Thunderbird with a toothbrush DOES NOT WORK.

Jeez, I'm gonna look like the tin man for the next week or so . . .

Hope this has been amusing folks :r :r :r
