Most people would think that AMD just got on board but the answer is no they have been around since 1969 and have met the demands of consumers including NASA. AMD CHIPS have been utilized in the COLUMBIA SPACE SHUTTLE this shows to all of us that AMD is indeed a RELIABLE CPU MANUFACTURER AND A MAJOR PLAYER IN THE CPU WORLD .:D

I've known that since a local computer store had an AMD day at least 2 years ago. Got some free goodies, but didn't win any prizes. I've got to learn how to draw more attention to myself...
Thanks for this one :)
Reading history is always facinating :)

Interesting reading here for technology history buffs. My first AMD powered computer was indeed a 486 Compaq presario running at 25 MHZ. I later upgraded it with a 133 MHZ Kingston Overdrive powered by AMD that fit in the math coprocessor slot around 1997. I remember paying 135 hard earned dollars for that chip and another 72 bucks for 16mb ram. That was one rockin rig back in those days. My, how time flies. :)
My first home computer with AMD processor was 386DX40.
Once had an AMD 286 at work
