:D Hi everyone!!
I just change my old ASUS PIII 850@950 system w/win98 and XP to P4. I did not have too much of a problem with XP, just to call MS and they give me a new code and that's it, problem solved, but...yep, win98 is a diferent thing, I am having a little bit of a problem with IE not loading the TCP/IP network transport and I do not know yet where to start looking, any ideas??:r :r
thanks a lot in advance!!

Go to Control Panel > Network and remove the NIC or TCP/IP at least. OK it to death and then restart. Have your drivers handy.
Oh - download and install these first (in WinXP naturally):

When you formatted C, you hosed the XP bootfiles. Your XP partition is now JBOF (just a bunch of files).
This is why I recommend a small 100MB C: drive (boot partition) with the OSes installed to D and E. You can then format D and E to your heart's content without losing the other OS.
You'll have to reinstall XP. :(

Before you do that, try pointing your boot loader to NTOSKRNL or NTLDR.
You may not still have them though.
or go as if to install XP again (run winnt32 from windows 98) so it installs the boot loader then add a line to boot.ini and delete the installer.
The entry in boot.ini should look like:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
if it on the second partition of your first disk.
You may want to replace the default value as well:
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
