Recently my internet connection(a free service from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda) has been acting strange. It used to be a great connection before, with good pings and connections speeds. I believe im experiencing packet loss. This is wut's wrong:
1.Instant messenger will often quit by itself, saying my internet connection is lost, and sometimes i cant even sign on to IM.
2. Web pages sometimes load alright, but a lot of times they take a LONG time to find the site.
3. When I try to ping somewhere under DOS, it pauses for 10 seconds, then starts pinging. I usually only get 1-3 packets that survive, and the milliseconds range from 130 if im lucky to 900.
I tried to modify my connection settings using EZMTU, and TweakDUN, but it didnt help.
My DUN/MTU/TTL dont seem to be the problem. My connection speed still says 44000bps so thats not it either.
I'm thinking mebbe im like going through a firewall and i should get a proxy server address from USUHS or something? I dont know alot about firewalls or packet loss.
I tried looking for a help page on the usuhs.mil site, but they dont seem to have one.
