yea, is there a way to increase the speed of your modem? Packet size? I did it somehow on advance section and reg. on the compaq, but deleted the help file i got from the company.

What telephone line you got? Here in the UK we have a thing called DACS on some lines. It is fine for voice as it splits the line quality in two - you share the line with the next house - but is shocking for data. It might be that you need a better phone line, I have tried with no success for many years to improve internet speeds and failed every time due to DACS :mad: I am running at 32000bps on my 56K modem :mad: :mad:

go to www.speedguide.net lots of that stuff for 56 modem, DSL modem, Cable modem, etc, all OSs

If you use modem to dialup use System Mechanic. Check if the port income rate is set to the high level.
If LAN: use Proxy

Due to a thing called "voice-grade" line, I only get 26400 bps PERIOD! NO tweaking does ANYTHING and I AM SICKSICKSICK of dial-up! I am going to cable on the 27th, and goodbye )-| , hello :D ... I'm so giddy I can hardly keep my pants on...
