Hi,
My son & a friend are trying to rebuild an old P75 PC to run win 98. The current problem is that the I can not get the Bios to recognise that the system has a cd rom drive. The Mombo has P/1 PSSTP4N rev 1.01 stenciled on it, uses award bios PI-5XTP4, and has drive type NONE,USER, and 0-45 available - there is no CDROM option.
I have tried 2 different cables, 2 different CD ROM Drives, tried auto recognition of drives within bios, and a win 98 boot disk with a cdrom driver loading from config.sys along with MSCDEX - I get as far as the drivers loading & a D: drive available, but I can not read the cd - get abort/retry/ignore.
any ideas?
Thanks,
Arnie
