ATA 66, AtA 100, ATA133 are all IDE HDD's its just what the maximum it can do. 66mbs, 100mbs and so on. What really matters the most is if its 5400 or 7200 which makes a big difference..

bear in mind, the faster they spin, the hotter they get (IDE more the case)

it is true that disk RPM is important, as most HDDs cannot take full use of ATA 100 or 133's bandwidth. so ATA 66 is gd enuff unless you have an ATA133 100+ GB HDD.
also, seagate (and some other manufctrs) has come up with HDDs running at 10000RPM or more...these are the drives wich use SCSI interface instead of IDE.

Yes! The difference is the "E" for "Enhanced" before the "IDE"
EIDE (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/E/EIDE.html)
