Only $297 each according to AMD :P. But then, as most of us know, the chips usually sell for a lot less than AMD lists them for at their website... right now on the AMD site the 1900+ is listed as $139, but I got a 1900+ for $115 two months ago... and now can be had for $83 from the same place. Both OEM, the retail 1900+ is now $96. All these prices are from TCWO (www.tcwo.com).

BTW sorry for posting stuff that had already been posted, I was practically hyperventalating when I found out about 2600+.

means two great things,

1. New chips. :D
2. Almost as good= lower prices for the cpu's under it. :D :)

very sexy. wonder when they'll be hitting the streets.

The only problem is that it sounds like AMD have pushed the boat right out for this release. i kinda makes you wonder how much more they can push without major improvements somewhere.

In comparison if you look at Intel they look like they could go another 10 rounds, but AMD looks like it's giving it's last big push now. I hope Barton & Clawhammer are something special or AMD will slip further back.

Intel has been steadily incresing speeds towards 3Ghz, while AMD has struggled to keep up.

Only question is will it be tortoise or hare?

The 2400+ and 2600+ were shipped today, August 21. Didn't say to where and in what amount, though.

it'll probably be a good week or two before you see them on the streets though, and at least next month before you can get one shipped in a system.

I wonder how those suckers overclock? :x :x :x

THG Got the 2.133 GHz 2600+ to 2.88 GHz... hows that for a solid OC? HardOCP got their 2600+ to 2.485. AMDMB got it to 2.43.

Found another review here (http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=202). That'll be the fourth one I've read :D.

Looks like AMD is making up with OC from the Xp and t-breds. :)

I think someone at AMD has figured out that Overclockers are a big slice of their pie. ABout time too.

Yea, I know one of the reasons I got a t-bird back when is becuase it was unlocekd and a good overclocker. Then they lost the OC crown and may not have it back but are close.

Opk Chowdy just get the 2400+ it will overclock as well read the articles . If I recall correctly the price is like a $100.00 more for the 2600+ so save your money and overclock that puppy when you get it :t

Hopefully is the word you use but in reality you are going to pay the premium price for AMD'S assault to Intel's P4 line ;) so start saving your pennies if you do decide to wait for the HAMMER .:t

ABOUT THAT BANG FOR THE BUCK

Overclocking: Normally we don't like to mention the overclocking aspects of a chip in our official assessment, but we think it's pretty safe to say that these newer Thoroughbred processors will overclock better than their predecessors. AMD has redesigned the core for more efficient operation at high clock speeds and based on what we've seen their work was a resounding success. Performance: The Athlon XP 2600+ is one helluva fast chip. It may only be running at 2.13GHz, but as we've seen in today's benchmarks it is more than capable of giving the Pentium 4 2.53GHz a run for its money. The scary part is AMD is only asking $193 for the Athlon XP 2400+, and we all know much cheaper street prices are for AMD CPUs. We wouldn't be surprised to see online prices another 20-30% lower once the supply on these chips increases
