 I got a new 1.3T Celeron and ST6R mobo but thought no problem just increase FSB and memory to 133 and away we go 1.7 simple maths not even OCing the memory But the Soft menu III simply sets the multplier down to 7.5 and not 13 as required it does not seem possible to change. I also own VH6T mobo and the multipler can be changed with a PIII but its a 1gig and does not OC. Any ideas out there? could it be the bios? I updated to abits newest or is it just a new celeron thing to make us buy P4. I want to Keep the ST6R as the faster machine as Striped Raid does the Bizz nearly double the performance :p

you cannot change multipliers on pentiums or celerons, no matter what the bios says. the multipliers have been locked for a long time and the motherboard cannot change them.
did you try a lower overclock first? try 105mhz or 110mhz bus first. then you can gradually ramp up to higher speeds. check your pci divider also. once you get to around 120mhz, you will want to use a 1/4 divider to keep your pci bus around 33mhz.

Just turn that sucka up to 133Mhz, boot into Windows and run MSINFO32.EXE. There you will see your CPU speed. Mediocre memory won't cut it, however.

:( You miss the point guys the st6r is running 133 memory but with soft menu III the way to adjust FSB is using user define but it resets the multiplier from 13x back down to 7.5x and she will not boot. you should be able to adjust the mobo setting to the preset value of the processor 13x but for some reason it does not allow adjustment. The st6r also has dip switches to override the soft menu but it makes no difference and the is no switch for multiplier. Please help any ABit lovers or Any one who knows is there any software to set up the Bios FSB multiplier etc. Help:(

You never said it didn't boot. You missed telling us that.

Sorry guys I think I may have overcomplicated my explinationI want to overclock my celeron abit (get it?) but bios does not allow me to keep the multiplier setting of 13. If I go to user define the multiplier drops to 7.5 and can not be adjusted . I was hoping to get the FSB and memory up a little but no joy. Dip switches not helping at all the manual states multiplier adjustable from 4.5x up to 16x in halfs increments but an is locked out with an x in next to it and it cant be changed. If multiplier is not at 13x it will not boot even underclocked. Running XP system seems fine. Got a massive thermatake volcano 7 and loads of case fans. Should I give up on the intel chipset and mess with the VIA one? Its then a matter of ghostin over about 20 gig of data off my gaming machine and giving up on striped raid. It is decent machine mainly except the memory for agp is limited to only 64MB max. Any thoughts??

Thanks! You were right the multiplier is fixed so if it says 7.5x its still stuck at 13x!I got it up to a 1.5ghz with 115 bus but what is the best thing to do with the pci bus as I can only devide by 4 or 3 giving me a bus of 28 or 38 is it better to over or under clock pci and agp cards?
It does not even show graphics card start up if I try for 118bus or higher. Ideally with like it to push up to 133 any tips? Is it now just down to the 1.3 celeron Tualatin is there a way to get past it like increasing the voltage and what is a safe voltage? Cooling is not a problem as she is running at the same temp OC'ed and standard? Thanks for you help!

My Celeron 1.3 finally gave up it blew up on the 1st of august exactly one year after installing it. It never got hot. It had a small quantity of stick residue on the underside of the chip. The PC is set to shut down if the temperature gets over 50C. Strange that it can blow without generating much heat. Has anyone had simular happenings?
