AMD Board has news of a new heat shielded Athlon XP showing up across the big blue lagoon. HERE (http://www.amdboard.com/hn08190201.html) Is it an attempt to confuse the populace by making Athlon XP's look like a P4? Is AMD trying to muddy the waters further by an equivalent heat dissipation rating?
Nah, both CPU makers copy from one anothers play books. But also, I think AMD is paying more attention to what is said about them by people like us. And again, while at the same time trying to lay the 'Cooks in Seconds' w/o HSF argument to rest. Keep up the rant machine boys, its working!

Never heard of anything like that for the Athlon XP, and if they are doing it, it is due to the fragile core - far too many AMD chips have died during heatsink installs.

The Hammer will have a very heavy duty aluminum cover over the processor, more for preventing newbs from cracking processors while installing heatsinks than for heat disappation, although the heat aspect is a plus.
