This is one of the crazziest problem I have ever had. Lately I've been downloading several MP3's and movies off of winmx, and kazaa. I average around ~200Kilo bytes down. Of course I don't download one file at a time, I have around 60 downloading at the same time (3k a peace average). Well what happens is that my connection dies completely, I cannot do anything on my computer internet related. I thought it might have been an overloaded router, but all my other machines are working just fine. The strange thing is that after like 1-5 minutes my internet starts to restore, but slowly! At first it may take 30 seconds to load a webpage, then it becomes less and less. That is another thing I don't get. If you connection is restored you should be getting almost normal if not normal speeds which should be steady. Could I have a bad network card?

Any help would be loved.

I have a cable modem 1500 down 128 up ISP is Comcast
my NIC is a 3com.

This might be related, but lately I have noticed when I using WinMX that the CPU usage for ZoneAlarm starts climbing quickly and the alerts just start adding up!

Could this be the record companies attacking us, like the rumors say they re doing?

Alerts start adding up because when someone does a search for a keyword is pings your computer. So zonealarm will be like "User 42.54.67.77 wants to be on port 556 (or the WinMX port) and wants to get information from this computer! Grr I'm not going to let you!" So that's why it adds up. What I hate is when zonealarm grows in cpu usage and winmx. That pisses me off.

Anyways, i'll see what I can do.
