Can someone tell me the difference between a Dat file and a Superdat file? Thanx

The Superdat file is the same as the Dat file (virus definition update), but the Superdat also updates the scan engine. If your scan engine is the same as the one in the latest superdat (4160), you can just download the dat.

yeap it's true a simple question like that costs any one who calls mcAfee tech support $25 and up.

and Microshaft is even worse $250 !!!!! for troubleshooting help

Thanx for the help. I've been away for a few days so couldn't reply.Your right about the value of the info found on this site.I couldn't get to the forum( if they have one) on Mcaffe or find any info about Superdat files so I appreciate the answer muchly.
